HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong Coalition held an event on Tuesday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center to celebrate its fifth anniversary.

Leung Chun-ying, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chief convener of the Hong Kong Coalition, said that over the past five years, the coalition has conducted field research both domestically and internationally, deepened exchanges and cooperation, and organized forums, symposiums, and international communication events to contribute to Hong Kong's economic and social development.

Leung emphasized that the coalition will continue to uphold the "one country, two systems" principle, leverage Hong Kong's unique advantages, support the country's comprehensive opening-up, and contribute to Hong Kong's transition from governance to prosperity, writing a new chapter for its future.

John Lee, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), described the coalition as an active participant and contributor to Hong Kong's transformation from chaos to governance and then to prosperity.

Lee reiterated Hong Kong's firm commitment to the "one country, two systems" principle, proactively aligning with the country's development strategies, and deepening international engagement and cooperation.

Zheng Yanxiong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, hoped that the coalition will continue to uphold a spirit of perseverance, push forward reforms and innovation, foster consensus among different sectors, and contribute to Hong Kong's stability and prosperity.

The Hong Kong Coalition was established on May 5, 2020, with more than 1,500 individuals from various sectors as co-founders. It aims to unite people from different walks of life, build social consensus, uphold "one country, two systems," and work toward a stable and prosperous Hong Kong.
