New NPC spokesman meets with media


Lou Qinjian, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, was named the spokesman for the second session of the 14th NPC, the country's top legislature, and met with the media on Monday.
Lou, born in 1956, is a computer engineer who spent more than 20 years working in various engineering fields. He served as vice-minister of industry and information technology from March 2008.
A native of Guizhou province, he became the governor of Shaanxi province in early 2013.
Three years later, he was appointed Party secretary of the Communist Party of China Shaanxi Committee. From October 2017, he served as the Party chief of Jiangsu province.
After his retirement from the Jiangsu post, he became the deputy chairman of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the NPC in October 2021, before being elected as a member of the 14th NPC Standing Committee and chairman of the NPC Foreign Affairs Committee in March 2023.
