World-class performance

There are surprising results of Team China from major world tournaments.

Chinese women's soccer team ended a 16-year wait to lift the Asian Cup in February while women's hoopsters tied their best record at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup to finish as runners-up in October.

On the field, two world champion titles came from men's long jumper Wang Jianan and the women's discus thrower Feng Bin.

Wang became China's first-ever long jump winner at the championships.
